Song of the Broad Axe Publications Short Story Contest

Song of the Broad Axe Publications is now accepting submissions for our 2023 Short Story Contest. The first prize winner will receive $300 and will have their piece published in The Rialto Books Review, Volume 18, due to be released January 1st, 2023. Our second prize will be $150 and publication in The Rialto Books Review, Volume 18, while our third prize will be $50 and publication on our Substack, bapublications.substack.com.

Please send one short story of 2,000-5,000 words on any theme to editors@broadaxepublications.com before midnight on October 1st, 2022. Please include a cover page with your name, a short biography, email address and phone number. A cover letter is not required.

The Rialto Books Review or The Ha'Penny Papers (Song of the Broad-Axe Publication's Substack) will have the exclusive right to publish the winning stories for six months from first publication in The Rialto Books Review or The Ha'Penny Papers. After six months, the rights will revert to the authors, who may publish the stories elsewhere so long as they appropriately credit The Rialto Books Review or The Ha'Penny Papers.
