The Pear Tree, a Passage -- by Alex Ranieri
The pear tree does not wait for Spring to put forth new growth--give her but three fine days in December, and she will show her tenacity for life in a plethora of buds. So too with us. For whether our consciousness wills it or no, there is a pair of lungs that will not placidly forego breath; a brain that will usher blood; a heart that will beat. Give us but two or three days of sunshine and pleasant weather, and however many winter storms may follow, we will show our tenacity.
